OCSC – Those Awkward Teenage Years
March 12, 2020 @ 6:30 pm
We’ve done young whiskies. We’ve done mature whiskies. But what about the ones in the middle? Unlike with people, the teenage years are whisky’s sweetspot: beginning to show the nuances of maturity without being stodgy, and still (mostly) affordable. We’ve assembled a selection of whiskies from 13 to 19, to see what these adolescents have to offer. Of course, these are not just your average liquor store expressions (would we do that to you?): we’ve got a discontinued favorite, a highly collectible limited edition, and the Whisky Bible 2014 Whisky of the Year. If we priced this at current market value, the whisky alone would be nearly $40 (it’s like getting dinner for free).
