You might ask: “What happens when you pair a best-selling Dominican cigar with the best single malts in the world? One might respond: “Come and see.” The La Galera 1936 toro is a box-pressed gem from Tabacalera Palma. Under Jose “Jochy” Blanco (former SVP of Joya de Nicaragua S.A.), the Blanco family owns 5 farms in the Dominican Republic’s Cibao valley. With 600-acres under tobacco cultivation, Tabacalera Palma has a sufficient supply of grade A tobacco to meet its production requirements. While it has historically imported wrapper tobacco from Cameroon, Mexico, Nicaraguan, Sumatra, and the US, that’s about to change with the introduction of some domestic wrapper grown on the Palma Estate.

Let’s try Glenfarclas 17-Year-Old, which is a terrific Speyside whisky. Owned by John (dad) and George (son) Grant, Glenfarclas is one of the most revered distilleries in Scotland. It is a prominent sherry cask aged single malt producer. Glenfarclas Family Reserve bottles go back into the 1950s and gather selling prices of up to a quarter million dollars. We will follow on with the tasty Glen Scotia Double Cask and the boldly delicious top-selling Amrut Fusion.
