“Let’s Leap Early; Why Wait Until 2028?” Although it would be appropriate to name a whisky after my friend Charlie Maclean, Scotland’s top whisky writer and whisky expert, Maclean’s Nose is named after a prominent landmark near the Ardnamurchan Distillery. This blended scotch is the antithesis of Johnnie Walker Black: it is 70% malt whiskies (Ardnamurchan and Glen Scotia) and 30% grain whiskies. Let’s try a Glen Elgin 17-year-old single cask from Signatory. Next, from the new Nc’Nean distillery in the highlands, we will give its Organic expression a go. Then we’re onto 2 new releases: Highland Park Heather (Cask Strength range), and Springbank 5 Year-Old, from its Cask Strength range. Ardbeg Smoke trails is its newest GTR (Global Travel Retail aka Duty-Free Shops) exclusive offering, it’s a 46% ABV’er from a combo of Bourbon HH and Manzanilla Sherry casks… and it’s yummy!
