The Michael Ries Tasting
April 27 @ 5:00 pm
Who is Michael Ries?
Michael is many things. He is one of the original and primary members of LA Scotch Club. He is a member of LA Whisk(e)y Society. He is a member of Malt Nuts. He runs the SoCal Whiskey Society. He’s big. He’s known. He’s been made a Kentucky Colonel. He’s Andy’s drinking buddy, with whom some of the rarest scotches in the world have been shared.
He’s visiting Kansas City. Per his request, we are not going to tread meekly. He’s asked for a raucous time with good scotch, and so he shall have it.
Included in this tasting: Andy will be sharing some rare bottles. You won’t have heard of them, but they are at a level not tried in Kansas yet. Old stuff. Rare stuff. If you know what a Braevel SMWS 113.3 is, then you’ll understand. If not, just accept you are going to experience scotch beyond anything you have had before.
Food: Michael loves burnt-ends. For fun, we are going to include a BLIND burnt-ends tasting with meat from Arthur Bryant, Gates, Q39, Joe’s, and Jack Stack. Included in the price.
The weather is scheduled to be great. We’ll be on Andy Smith’s patio starting at 5 and going on all night.
