DESCRIPTION:TGIS is optimized with Saturday afternoon fine cigar & ABC single malts! \nI enjoy the Padron cigars and will select one that pairs well with the single malts that comprise our whisky flight. \nAultmore 12-Year is an excellent Speysider owned by John Dewar & Sons (Bacardi)\, which owns 5 malt distilleries in Scotland. Aultmore’s nickname is “Old foggy moss”\, I’ll tell you the story about it. \nI bought a $1\,000 worth of single malts from an estate that included an old bottle of BenRiach 12-Year\, bourbon cask classic\, at 46%. BenRiach is the prototypical Speyside single malt. If you told central casting to send you good Speyside single malt\, they would bring you a bottle of BenRiach. \nCaol Ila is\, by a wide margin\, the largest distillery on Islay and it may make the best-balanced single malt whisky on Islay. Let’s try the excellent Caol Ila 12-Year. \nIf you were wondering\, there are my ABCs: Aultmore\, BenRiach\, and Caol Ila. \nBut wait as there’s more: Ian Macleod Distillers has the Regional Malts of Scotland collection. SUMMARY:El Septimo and Single Malt
DESCRIPTION:TGIF is optimized with an after work fine cigar & single malt! El Septimo’s SE Sales\nManager\, Kevin Petosa\, will tells us about the ultra-premium El Septimo Cigar line\nwhich has taken the industry by storm. I’ve selected 4 fine single malts which will\npair up nicely with our El Septimo cigar. Speyburn 10-Year is a Speysider owned by\nInver House Distillers\, which owns 5 malt distilleries in Scotland. I’m over the moon\nabout Craigellachie 13-Year. The Craigellachie distillery\, one of Bacardi’s 4 Scottish\nmalt distilleries\, is one of my favorites. One of the most popular single malts in our\nfair city is Talisker. The Talisker Distillery is on the Isle of Skye\, off the western coast\nof Scotland. We’ll taste Talisker Storm\, a full flavor\, moderately peated dram.\nTalisker was the favorite whisky of Robert Louis Steveson. Mr Stevenson famously\npraised Talisker in his 1880 poem\, “The Scotsman’s Return from Abroad\,” where he\ncrowned it the “king o’ drinks”. He later clarified his ranking\, stating\, “I have since\ntried Glenlivet and Islay\, but Talisker remains my favorite”. Smokehead is a heavily\npeated Island single malt. The producer (Ian MacLeod Distillers) has not disclosed\nthe distillery or the island of origin. The bloggers say that it is from Islay and the\nmajority believe it’s from the Lagavulin Distillery. Smokehead is supposedly 40ppm\nat the malted barley level whereas Talisker’s malted barley begins life at 18-25ppm.\nDo so join us between 3 and 8pm for a fun event. DESCRIPTION:“Two New Arrivals” \nThis tasting will introduce 2 single malts that are recent arrivals in the US.  They came in the right way: At an authorized port of entry\, full-documented and full- vaccinated. \nArdnamurchan AD/03.21:02 is the new Ardnamurchan Distillery’s first release to the US and it is exclusive to the US. The distillery is owned by Adelphi which has been releasing lovely independent bottlings for many years. Bladnoch Vinaya is another 46+ percenter that just entered the US. We just visited Bladnoch and can’t wait to return! This expression has aged in bourbon and sherry first-fill casks. We’ll begin our tasting with Loch Lomond Original. LL is the most under-rated distillery in Scotland\, so it’s high-time to give it its due. GlenDronach 12 is a beautiful thing\, indeed! It’s sherry cask matured to the point of being a Sherry-bomb. Let’s finish big: Bowmore 10 Dark & Intense is a gentle but so tasty dram which we will undo with a go of Ardbeg Wee Beastie\, a 5-year-old riot in a bottle. Why it is pretty darn cool for me\, a guy from Dallas (the one on the Trinity River and home of DFW\, the Rangers and the Cowboys). \nAtlanta’s Michael Leidel\, a fellow MASCer albeit now outof- state\, is the owner of Dime Box Distillery\, non-producing bottler in Dime Box\, TX. For the first time ever in Georgia\, we’re going to taste all 4 of his Sixth Street bourbon/rye whiskeys. What’s more\, we’ll also taste 2 Garrison Brothers bourbon expressions. \nAs some of the bottles are something borrowed\, we’re able to pass on the cost savings to you.
