SUMMARY:Scotch Mood\, Greek Food
DESCRIPTION:Includes a Greek Dinner: Salad/Soup\, Appetizers\, Entrées & Desserts \nLet’s kick thing off with the tasty Glen Grant 12-year. If you still have room on your 2023 resolution list\, put buy a bottle of Glen Grant on it. Aultmore Distillery is a gem owned by Bacardi Ltd. \nThe locals have nicknamed it “Old Foggy Moss” as the road to the distillery seems to always beset by fog. Aultmore 12 is bottled at 46% ABV without chillfiltration and is recommended. Have you ever tried a cask strength Balblair? Balblair 2006 vintage is a 12-year-old single cask at cask strength 55.2% ABV. In 2017\, The Balvenie released Peated Triple Cask as a global travel retail exclusive. \nIt is a 14-year-old that was bottled at a hearty 48.3% ABV after maturation in a combination of bourbon first-fill\, bourbon refill\, and oloroso sherry casks. But here is the interesting point: it is the first Balvenie ever released based on 100% peated malted barley. Its ppm is 30 which is similar to that of Bowmore. My fave Laphroaig core expression is Quarter Cask! Bottled at 48% ABV\, Laphroaig Quarter Cask is pretty much perfect. It’s non-chillfiltered and no coloration added. We’re going to finish on a high note: Port Charlotte Scottish Barley is 40-ppm marvel bottled at an interesting 50% ABV. It will be fun comparing the Quarter Cask to the Port Charlotte\, so do not miss this one. In summary\, the only thing missing is the presence of your good company. Do join us and please bring a friend as “good whisky is made great when enjoyed among friends.” \nWHISKY MENU: 3 Speysiders\, 2 Ileachs (or is it Ileaches)\, and 1 Highlander \n1. GLEN GRANT Single Malt / 12-Year / 43% ABV / OB / Dist Owner: Gruppo\nCampari S.A. (Davide Campari-Milano S.p.A.) / Speyside (Rothes) \n2. AULTMORE Single Malt / 12-Year / 46% ABV / NCF / OB: Aultmore Dist /\nDist Owner: John Dewar & Sons Ltd. (Bacardí Ltd.) / Speyside (Isla) \n3. BALBLAIR Single Malt / 2006 Vintage (12-Yr) / CS 55.2% ABV / NCF / SC#\n475 – 117 btls / OB / Dist Owner: Inver House Distillers Ltd. (International\nBeverage Holdings Ltd./ThaiBev plc) / Highland (Northern) \n4. BALVENIE (THE) Single Malt / ‘Peated Triple Cask’ / 14-Year / 48.3% ABV /\nNCF / OB / Dist Owner: Wm. SUMMARY:Craigellachie's List
DESCRIPTION:By popular demand from the member’s of SD Scotch Club\, we are going to delve a little bit into a distillery whose name is out there\, mostly because of Diageo\, but doesn’t get the attention that other single malts get. Does it deserve more attention\, or should it be put on the shelves we use for Christmas parties with the neighbors? Let’s try six of these and see if we can wrap our minds around what is Craigellachieness. We’ll be doing some nice solid 1oz pours for all but the 23yr (3/4oz) so that we can make a proper decision.  This is a lot of whisky\, so plan your trip home wisely. \nThis event will be in Rancho Bernardo at a member’s patio (great views\, you’ll love it). Included in admission will be a pulled pork dinner smoked by our host\, Lord Bernard\, for 24hrs. \nCraigellachie’s List\nCraigellachie 13yr\nCraigellachie 13yr Armagnac\nCraigellachie 17yr\nCraigellachie 15yr Old Particular (K&L private cask)\nCraigellachie 12yr Sovereign (K&L private cask)\nCraigellachie 23yr

SUMMARY:Resurrection II
DESCRIPTION:It is our custom to gather in the Fall to remember distilleries that have left this mortal plane. But Spring is a time of rebirth\, and so this month we come together to celebrate a few of those distilleries that were once lost\, seemingly for good\, but that have sprung back to life. \nWe did a Zoom version of this two years ago. It was largely an excuse to get together (virtually) and crack open a rare Bruichladdich Resurrection Dram. Well\, another unicorn has fallen into our lap\, so we’re doing it again\, only this time in person. The star of this show will be Glenglassaugh “The First Cask\,” one of only 650 bottles drawn from the very first cask filled after the distillery went back on line in 2008\, and bottled the second it was old enough to be called Whisky. Is it any good? Hard to say\, but we’re pretty sure that this will be your only chance\, ever\, to find out. \nBen Nevis 21yr. Faultline 1995\nBraeval 7yr. SMWS 113.24 2011\nGlenallachie 11yr. Hepburn’s Choice for K&L 2005\nGlencadam “ The Re-awakening” 13yr.\nGlenDronach 11yr. Cask Bottling for K&L 2008\nGlenglassaugh “The First Cask”3yr. 2008\nTullibardine 10yr. Sovereign for K&L 2008 \nSandwiches\, appetizers\, etc. \nThe event will take place outdoors at the home of an OCSC member in Costa Mesa (address to follow). The forecast is dry\, but chilly. \n-$55-\nVenmo (Brett-Perkins-3 – look for the OCSC Coat-of-Arms) or PayPal (preparator27@yahoo.com). \nPlease use the “Friends and Family” option (when they ask “is this payment for goods or services?” you say “No”). We no longer accept payments from Meta (Facebook) or Zelle. Designated drivers may eat free\, but please include them in your RSVP. \nPlease note the new\, earlier time (not that we won’t let you in if you had to be a bit late).

Aultmore Distillery is a gem owned by Bacardi Ltd.  The locals have nicknamed it “Old Foggy Moss” as the road to the distillery seems to always beset by fog. Aultmore 12 is bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration and is recommended. Have you ever tried a cask strength Balblair? \nBalblair 2006 vintage is a 12-year-old single cask at cask strength 55.2% ABV. In 2017\, The Balvenie released Peated Triple Cask as a global travel retail exclusive. It is a 14-year-old that was bottled at a hearty 48.3% ABV after maturation in a combination of bourbon first-fill\, bourbon refill\, and oloroso sherry casks. But here is the interesting point: it is the first Balvenie ever released based on 100% peated malted barley. Its ppm is 30 which is similar to that of Bowmore. \nMy fave Laphroaig core expression is Quarter Cask! \nDo join us and please bring a friend as “good whisky is made great when enjoyed among friends.” \nWHISKY MENU: 3 Speysiders\, 2 Ileachs (or is it Ileaches)\, and 1 Highlander \n1. GLEN GRANT Single Malt / 12-Year / 43% ABV / OB / Dist Owner: Gruppo\nCampari S.A. (Davide Campari-Milano S.p.A.) / Speyside (Rothes) \n2. SUMMARY:Holiday High-End Tasting
DESCRIPTION:$85 Advance Purchase (note ‘12/29/22 Event’ – don’t mention whisky) \nhttp://PayPal.Me/AtlantaScotchClub/85 \nSome Old\, Most Long-Gone & All Delicious! Our tasting will consist of 4 bottles from my travels and 2 bottles from Dr Tom Lobonc’s extensive whisky collection. \nI’ve patiently awaiting good cause to open my highly-prized bottle of Springbank HMS Campbeltown bottled at 50.5% ABV in 2011 for Springbank Society. This 2001 Vintage gem was conventionally-matured in a port pipe cask of toasted Spanish red oak for 10-years. From 1999-2009\, Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve was a top-seller with a loyal niche. The marketing staff at Whyte & Mackay erroneously concluded the word ‘cigar’ limited its potential buyers and changed its name to ‘Gran Reserva.’ This resulted in a 70% drop in unit sales (its former niche buyers fled) and a very angry and vocal group of ex Cigar Malt buyers. In 2011\, W&M reintroduced Cigar Malt Reserve as a slightly enhanced expression albeit at a significantly higher price (RRP $235 vs $110). I just love Glenmorangie Signet… a ‘chocolate malt’ wonder that exceeds my memory. This rich elixir is the perfect whisky digestif. Our Bladnoch 26yr old Talia was conventionally-aged in red wine casks of toasted American white oak. I bought it at the distillery (at great expense) to use as the featured dram at a MASC high-end tasting. From Dr. Lobonc’s collection\, Ardbeg 2014 Kildalton Edition and Port Charlotte PC12 introduce peated malts for our final 2 drams. \nIn summary\, it’s the perfect holiday present for you! Do come hungry\, as we’ll have lots of food. Also\, consider inviting friends as “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” \nWHISKY: \n1 Campbeltown\, 2 Highland\, 2 Islay\, and 1 Lowland \n1. SUMMARY:Day of the Dead Distilleries IX - San Diego
DESCRIPTION:Please join us in a “celebration of life” for nine distilleries now passed on to the big warehouse in the sky.  Many expressions are off the market entirely and some are rarities that are skyrocketing in value and nearly impossible to find. \nAt the Bernal Memory Garden in Solana Beach we will eulogize each whisky with its history and cause of death. Please wear dark colors to solemnize the occasion. A typical funeral reception buffet will be available with sandwiches and appetizers. Kleenex and glassware will be provided. We are sorry for your loss. \n$105: Venmo @drammer or PPFF drammer@lascotchclub.com \nDinner included: Tacos \n\nThe Deceased \nBanff 1976 G&M CC 28yr\nGlen Mhor 1980 G&M 27yr\nGlencraig 1981 19yr Cadenheads Sherry\nPittyvaich 1993 13yr G&M\nLittlemill 21 Berry’s\nGlenugie 1982 OMC\nBrora 1981 Signatory Unchillfiltered\nInverleven 1991 18yr G&M \n \nDarkness falls upon the land\nOne by one the stills go dead\nEach murdered by a corporate hand\nSo vodka could be poured instead \nThey slew the ancient and the young\nAnd let their corpses rot in mud\nYet now you wait with thirsty tongue\nTo taste their final golden blood \nYou start to feel a numbing chill\nThe thrill of what you shall consume\nThe spawn of but nine hallowed stills\nAwait within nine glassy tombs \nYet as the spirit meets its end\nYour Glencairn starts to quiver\nFor few mere mortals dare to send\nThe Undead to their liver

SUMMARY:Jack is Back
DESCRIPTION:Jack is Back: \nHave numerous treks to the Caribbean\, Jack has returned for numerous rounds of single malt… beginning with 6 on Thursday night.   I mean that I like rum (there it’s ron)\, but it falls short (far short) of single malt. \nLet’s start with the Glengoyne 12\, its first ever core single malt that uses a bit of bourbon cask aged malt. From just across the Irish Sea opposite Campbeltown\, Waterford Dunmore 1.1 organic single malt. The barley was grown at Dunmore farms\, malted locally and bottled at 50% ABV. From the great Glen Grant distillery\, 15 Batch Strength which is also bottled at 50% ABV. GlenDronach is an 18-year-old to die for! Honestly\, one could spend a whole lot of money for an old single malt\, but it wouldn’t represent a better value than GD-18. Now for a big finish: Ardbeg Corryvreckan is da bomb. It’s a cask-strength bourbon cask monster at 57.1% ABV. \nSo\, do come along and bring a friend as “good whisky is made great when\nshared among friends.” \nWHISKY: 2 Highland\, 2 Speyside\, 1 Islay and 1 Irish single malts \n1. GLEN GRANT Single Malt / 15-Year / ‘Batch Strength’ / 50% ABV / NCF /\nOB / Dist Owner: Gruppo Campari (Davide Campari-Milano) / Speyside\n(Rothes) \n4.
