SUMMARY:Old School Scotch – SD
DESCRIPTION:Remember the expression “This ain’t your grandfather’s whisky”? Well\, this IS your grandfather’s whisky… the cool Scottish one\, not the teetotaler on the other side of the family. We’ll be visiting a huge 12 bottle lineup of whisky that is going to look basic (10 year\, 12 year)\, but this isn’t the scotch you buy down at the Try N’ Save in the year 2025. These are the whiskies on the shelves in the ’70s\, ’80s\, and ’90s. These are hard to find unless you know a guy\, and you know a guy. Yes\, there will likely be a lot of rotten corks to deal with\, so be patient\, you’ll be poured. \nAs an added bonus (or the opposite\, you decide)\, Andy Smith\, the pickled poobah hisself will be in person to present the scotch with minimal energy due to Peatin’ Meetin’ recovery. \nWe’ll be in CORONADO at the home of Bill Rogers who will be cooking smoked tri-tip\, beans\, and garlic toast.  Dinner included in the price. \nThe OLD bottlings\nBenriach 10yr\nBruichladdich 10yr\nDalmore 12yr\nGlen Garioch 10yr\nGlen Ord 12yr\nGlendronach 15yr\nGlenfarclas 105\nGlenfarclas 12yr\nGlenfiddich 12yr\nOld Fettercairn 10yr\nRoyal Lochnagar 12yr\nTalisker 10yr \nIt’s a LOT of scotch at a great price.

SUMMARY:Old vs. New - Scotch across the Decades
DESCRIPTION:Join Scotch Club\, Mr. Peabody\, and Sherman\, on a trip to the way-back machine where we visit whisky from decades ago and compare them side by side with their modern counterparts. Scotch Club has been hoarding these old gems for years and it’s time to dust them off and pop the cork (carefully.) \nWe’ll compare each whisky will its counterpart side by side and pour them blind\, to judge whether the malt has gotten better… or worse. \nThe 80s and 90s                                   The Current Releases \nTalisker 10yr                                                   Talisker 10yr\nDalmore 12yr                                                  Dalmore 12yr\nBruichladdich 10yr                                           Bruichladdich 10yr\nGlenfarclas 12yr                                             Glenfarclas 12yr\nGlenfiddich 12yr                                             Glenfiddich 12yr \nSnacks included.

SUMMARY:American Single Malt Whiskey
DESCRIPTION:For the first time in over 52 years the U.S. Government has added a new type of whiskey to its regulations: American Single Malt Whiskey. On December 18th\, 2024\, the TTB officially added the new Standard of Identity with an effective date of January 19th\, 2025 that clearly defines the category and protects its producers and their products. The new definition stipulates that American Single Malt adhere to the following production standards: \n1. Made from 100% malted barley.\n2. Distilled entirely at one distillery.\n3. Mashed\, distilled\, and matured in the United States of America.\n4. Matured in oak casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 liters.\n5. Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% Alcohol by Volume)\n6. Bottled at 80 (U.S.) proof or more. (40% Alcohol by Volume) \nFinally\, the U.S. has recognized that American Single Malt Whiskey is unique and deserves to be defined and protected as other American whiskey categories are. Most importantly\, this new definition ensures that consumers worldwide can have every confidence that what they think is in a bottle of American Single Malt Whiskey actually is. \nJoin us June 22nd as we taste 6 American Single Malt Whiskies: \nCedar Ridge The QuintEssential (Swisher\, IA)\nWestland Distillery 7 Year Old Single Cask No. 4857 Muscat Cask (Seattle\, WA)\nVirginia Distillery Co. Courage & Conviction Cuvée Single Cask #1275 (K&L) (Lovingston\, VA)\nWestward Whiskey Single Cask (So. Cal. On Premise 2022) Pinot Noir Cask Finished (Portland\, OR)\nCopperworks Distilling Release No. 034 (49 months Washington Peated) (Seattle\, WA)\nClear Creek Distillery McCarthy’s 6 Year Old (K&L) Single Barrel #367 Peated (Portland\, OR) \n$25 members/ $30 non-members \nPlease order your dinner directly with Chapter One when you arrive.

SUMMARY:The Armchair Tour of Scotland
DESCRIPTION:“An Armchair Tour of Scotland” Our tasting features 3 new releases to our market. Tamnavulin (Whyte & Mackay) is the first up. Its Double Cask begins life in bourbon barrels and is finished in sherry casks. As we seldom see an Auchroisk bottling in our market\, let’s opt for its 10-Year\, a rare 43% ABV dram from Battlehill. Now hear this: Glenglassaugh 12-Year is da bomb! This one exceeded my expectations\, and I bet that it will also pleasantly surprise you\, too. Isle of Arran 14-Year was discontinued in 2019 (rather shocking as it was its best-selling bottling!). The discontinuation occurred alongside the introduction of the distillery’s new core range and the renaming of the distillery to Lochranza (no one calls it Lochranza\, so if you refer to it\, go with the Isle of Arran Distillery version). \nBruichladdich Islay Barley 2014 Edition features barley grown on 8 farms on Islay. Unlike the 2013 Edition which used the Bere (aka Viking) barley variety\, our edition was made from Concerto and Propino barley grown on Islay. Yes\, the last one will demand your attention: Caol Ila 2008 Vintage 8-Year at cask strength 59.5% ABV and peated at 34-38 ppm. It is a Signatory bottling of a single cask selected by Binny’s of Chicago. \nSo\, do join us and bring a friend\, because “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.”  Join our dram family… \nWHISKY MENU \n1. SUMMARY:Cyber Split #2 - SPECial

Well\, let it never be said that Scotch Club won’t abuse true love in the name of true love of a good dram. So… we’re getting some Spec’s Exclusives\, 15 of them\, and we’re going to split them\, ship them\, and dram the bejezeezus outta them.  Are you in? \nAs we can only purchase whisky we have sold\, only the first 15 are guaranteed. For every 15 sales we get\, we will buy another bottle for splitting. In order to keep the tastings more personal\, we’ll split into smaller groups so that everyone can feel a part of the tasting. \nWe estimate these will get to you in early June. \nPLEASE NOTE THE EVENT DATE IS A PLACEHOLDER ONLY.  ONLINE TASTINGS WILL BE SCHEDULED TO FIT YOUR SCHEDULES. \nAuchroisk Signatory Vintage 1996 26yr Bourbon Hogshead 48.9%\nMiltonduff Signatory Vintage 2009 12yr Bourbon Barrel 56.4%\nPulteney Signatory Vintage 2008 12yr Bourbon Barrel / Sherry Finish 55.7%\nArchives 00543 Edrington Blend 2001 19yr Sherry Butt 45.9%\nGlenrothes A.D. SUMMARY:Somethings Old\, Somethings New
DESCRIPTION:“Somethings Old\, Somethings New” For those of you that missed our 4/23/25 with IAN PALMER\, you missed one of our best tastings. His North American executive told me that Ian enjoyed his night in Atlanta and hopes to return in the future. Back to May 8th: Let’s begin with a rare official bottling of Teaninich 10-Year 43% ABV from Diageo’s Flora & Fauna collection. As is my wont\, I often pair Teaninich and Dailuaine\, I’ve selected as independent bottling of Dailuaine 10-Year 46% ABV from the Jas. Eadie Whisky Co. Onto the new GlenAllachie 8-Year at 46% ABV. This whisky is alive\, a vibrant malt that has full-flavor as its middle name. My favorite HL malt is Glen Garioch. I have chosen the Founders Reserve NAS bottling at 48% ABV. \nYou will love it! The new Kilkerran 8-Year Cask Strength at 55.8% ABV is a bourbon bomb.  Ranald Watson\, Findlay Ross\, and Gavin McLachlan selected those 8-year casks that had attained full maturity and vatted them together without filtration\, coloration\, or reduction. Our last (but never least) dram is the GREAT Laphroaig Quarter Cask\, a fine NCF expression that comes in at 48% ABV. The quarter casks are 125L which is a quarter of the 500L sherry butt and port pipe casks. \nSo\, do join us and bring a friend\, because “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” Join our dramming family… \nWHISKY MENU \n1. SUMMARY:Scotch goes to Alabama
DESCRIPTION:“Winter Worries Wane With Whisky” Let’s test this theorem with a whisky experiment. By the time we complete the sixth stage of this experiment\, I believe that you won’ t be thinking about the weather. We haven’ t featured one of better aperitif drams in 4 years\, so it’s time to call on Benromach Traditional single malt. From the Speyburn\, let’s try the 10- year which is one of its hard-to-find core elixirs. We haven’t had Deanston since 2021. I’ve selected its 12-year-old which is a tasty 46.3% ABV whisky that is finished for several weeks in toasted virgin oak casks\, a rather unique approach. Mannochmore is among the most underrated distilleries in Speyside. Although the same size as the well-known Balvenie and Clynelish\, only a tiny portion of its single malt is bottled. Why? Because Diageo uses most of its output for blending Johnnie Walker\, Haig & Haig\, and Old Parr. \nLet’s go with a 46% ABV 16-year-old from the good folks at Gordon & MacPhail. Over my 14-year Atlanta residence\, I’ve notice that the most popular SM are Oban\, Highland Park\, and Talisker. We will give Highland Park 12-year a go. Now for a big ending with the star of the show being Ardbeg Heavy Vapours. I’ve chosen the 2023 Committee Release at cask strength (50.2% ABV). They have turned-off the purifier (a sort of pre-condenser) at the top of their Spirit Stills for this experimental endeavor as they wanted to allow a greater portion of the heavier vapors to escape from the top of the still (rather than being cooled by the purifier and dropping back down for further distillation). By all accounts\, the experiment was a resounding success as the demand for its Heavy Vapours bottling is quite strong. I am quite happy with this flight and hopeful that it will create synergies whereby the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. \nSo\, do join us and bring a friend\, because “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” \nWHISKY MENU \n1. SUMMARY:The Winter Worries Wane With Whisky
DESCRIPTION:“Winter Worries Wane With Whisky” Let’s test this theorem with a whisky experiment. By the time we complete the sixth stage of this experiment\, I believe that you won’t be thinking about the weather. We haven’t featured one of better aperitif drams in 4 years\, so it’s time to call on Benromach Traditional single malt. From the Glenburgie Distillery\, let’s try the 15- year from the Ballantine’s SM Series. The most recent Deanston elixir that we tasted was\nalso in 2021. I’ve selected its 12-year-old which is a tasty 46.3% ABV whisky that is finished for several weeks in toasted virgin oak casks. Dailuaine is among the most underrated distilleries in Speyside. \nAlthough the same size as the well-known Glenfarclas and Glen Grant distilleries\, only a tiny portion of its single malt is bottled as such. Why? Because Diageo uses most of its output for blending Johnnie Walker\, White Horse\, and Old Parr. Let’s go with a cask strength 52% ABV 11-year-old from the good folks at Battlehill. Over my 14-year Atlanta residence\, I’ve notice that the most popular SM are Oban and Talisker. We will give Talisker Storm a go. Now for a big ending with the star of the show being Ardbeg Heavy Vapours. I’ve chosen the Committee Release at or about cask strength (50.2% ABV). Apparently\, they have extended the lower cut as the heavier phenols are in the 62% to 58% ABV end of the run. \nThus\, they have cut to feints a bit later than their standard point. I am quite happy with this flight and hopeful that it will create synergies whereby the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. So\, do join us and bring a friend\, because “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” \nWHISKY MENU \n1. SUMMARY:Cyber Scotch Split #1
DESCRIPTION:—SOLD OUT— \nScotch Clubbers are now spread all over the country. Let’s split some bottles! For this series\, the club will purchase 14 bottle expressions and divide them into minis. For those who have been around a long time\, you will remember our 15×15 bottle splits (14×14 for Euro bottles)\, and this is the same but with an online twist. Like our Advent calendar\, the club will send you a shipment of minis. Unlike the calendar bottles\, these will be labeled with their contents and will be around twice as large (so expect to see the 2oz french square minis). We WILL do online tastings which you are welcome to attend or skip. I (Andy) will walk us through each sample but keep it light and fun and increasingly unsober. We will divide the online tastings (Zoom) into two rounds of 7 whiskies. \nAs we can only purchase whisky we have sold\, only the first 15 are guaranteed. For every 15 sales we get\, we will buy another bottle for splitting. In order to keep the tastings more personal\, we’ll split into smaller groups so that everyone can feel a part of the tasting. \nHere’s what I found interesting and want to try. These are overseas purchases so that we can experience NEW whisky (part of our founding mission.) Note\, these are not low-end bottles. If we are going to do this\, we are going big. \nI estimate these will get to you in mid-April.  (it takes 3 weeks just to get them to me from London.) \nPLEASE NOTE THE EVENT DATE IS A PLACEHOLDER ONLY.  ONLINE TASTINGS WILL BE SCHEDULED TO FIT YOUR SCHEDULES. \nFOR NON-US PURCHASES PLEASE EMAIL THE CLUB \nThe Whisky \nBlair Athol 2007 / 16 Year Old / The Seasons: Winter\nMacduff 2003 / 21 Year Old / Berry Bros & Rudd for The Whisky Exchange\nArdmore 25 Year Old / Thompson Bros\nOrkney 2013 / 10 Year Old / The Seasons: Winter\nTomatin 1997 / 23 Year Old / Daily Dram\nOld Pulteney 2008 / 16 Year Old / #10 / Signatory\nBruichladdich 2004 / Bot.2011 / Islay Grown\nSecret Islay 2007 / 15 Year Old / The Whisky Agency and Three Rivers\nThy 2019 / Quarter Cask / Bot.2022 / Berry Bros & Rudd\nSmogen 2014 / 10 Year Old / Decadent Drams\nAmrut Neidhal / Single Malts of India\nSMWS 85.89 (Glen Elgin) / 2007 / 15 Year Old / For LMDW Artist #13\nAllt-a-Bhainne 1998 / 21 Year Old / Distillery Reserve Collection\nKnockdhu 2006 / 16 Year Old / Whisky Sponge Edition No.63

SUMMARY:Christmas/Hanukkah High-end Tasting
DESCRIPTION:To Help You Get Into The Holiday Spirit! Our whisky flight features some older bottlings (2 @ 21\, 1 @ 18\, 1 @ 15-Years) and some excellent limited edition expressions without an age statement. Imperial is a 21-year Speyside at 46% ABV. As GlenDronach was mothballed for 6- years (1996-2002)\, they have temporarily run our Parliament 21-year\, but Tom Lobonc has a bottle for us! In 2019\, Highland Park released Loki as the 2nd edition in its Valhalla range. Is it good? It is selling for £500 at Masters of Malt. Arran’s Angels & Devils (Punch Bowl range\, Chapter II) is a cask strength flavor bomb. \nMalts finished in manzanilla casks pique my interest\, when it is a Bowmore\, I am all in. Being the first release in Bowmore’s Vintner’s Trilogy\, Manzanilla Cask will be a very good one. Our Ardbeg Drum is the 2019 Committee Release at cask strength 52% ABV. This one is finished in another personal favorite cask type: Caribbean Rum casks. And it worked to the point that Ardbeg’s phenols nicely offset the sweetness of the rum casks. The result is delicious! \nSo do come and consider inviting your friends as “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” Here is to happier holidays and holiday spirits. \nWHISKY: 1 Speyside\, 1 Highland\, 2 Island\, 2 Islay \n1. SUMMARY:Day of the Dead Distilleries XI - LA
DESCRIPTION:-SOLD OUT-\n==The Tickets are now Deceased== \nPlease join us in a “celebration of life” for nine distilleries now passed on to the big warehouse in the sky. Many expressions are off the market entirely and some are rarities that are skyrocketing in value and nearly impossible to find. \nAt the NEW Sherman Oaks Whisky Mortuary\, we will eulogize each whisky with its history and cause of death. Please wear dark colors to solemnize the occasion. A typical funeral reception buffet will be available with sandwiches and appetizers. Kleenex and glassware will be provided. We are sorry for your loss. \n$100 \nFuneral sandwiches and snacks provided. \n\nThe Deceased \nLadyburn 41yr\nRosebank 21yr\nLochside 15yr Connoisseur’s Choice\nGlen Albyn 1974 Blackadder\nGlen Flagler 5yr \nZombie bottles leftover from Peatin’ Meetin’ will be shared afterward. \n \nDarkness falls upon the land\nOne by one the stills go dead\nEach murdered by a corporate hand\nSo vodka could be poured instead \nThey slew the ancient and the young\nAnd let their corpses rot in mud\nYet now you wait with thirsty tongue\nTo taste their final golden blood \nYou start to feel a numbing chill\nThe thrill of what you shall consume\nThe spawn of but five hallowed stills\nAwait within five glassy tombs \nYet as the spirit meets its end\nYour Glencairn starts to quiver\nFor few mere mortals dare to send\nThe Undead to their liver
