SUMMARY:DSC Mystery Malt
DESCRIPTION:Denver Scotch Club proudly presents Thompson Brothers Mystery Malt (series #3). Join us for this super fun event as we taste our way through 8 mystery bottles. \nThompson Brothers are an independent bottler that also operates Dornoch Distillery in Scotland. They started and popularized the mystery malt concept\, which has since seen copycats from others such as Scotch Malt Whisky Society. The first 3 releases of this mystery malt series sold out within an hour\, so it’s no wonder why others are trying to copy it. Yes\, we actually have at least 8 bottles. And yes\, we were up at odd hours of the night\, clicking refresh on the purchase portal\, like we were trying to buy Taylor Swift concert tickets. \nThe format will be one bottle at a time. Casually discuss and enjoy the dram\, which is the main purpose of this event. Brave souls may offer up guesses from a list of possibilities (completely optional) – the table of possibilities is further down in this description. And finally\, we reveal what the whisky is. A great way to be surprised\, delighted\, and perhaps discover something new or unique. \n   \n \n\nThe Whisky\n\n1. ??? 48.5% abv\n2. ??? 48.5% abv\n3. ??? 48.5% abv\n\n4. ??? 48.5% abv\n5. ??? 48.5% abv\n6. ??? 48.5% abv\n7. ??? 48.5% abv\n\n8. ??? 48.5% abv\n\n\n\n\nCharcuterie (meats\,cheese\,nuts\,fruit) included

SUMMARY:Isle of Arran
DESCRIPTION:Isle of Arran Tasting Event: Lochranza aka Arran Distillery & Lagg Distillery – THANK YOUs to Hotaling & Company\, Lochranza & Lagg Distilleries\, and NICK AHLEN (who coordinated this tasting). As it’s difficult to procure 6 Lochranza and Lagg at one time in our market\, it took Nick months to assemble the whiskies for our flight. Well done! First a confession: the name of the distillery in Lochranza\, Isle of Arran\, is ‘Lochranza Distillery’. That said\, the veteran single malt aficionados call it ‘Arran Distillery’. Call it what you may\, but note this: ARRAN is amazingly good whisky! Let’s begin with Arran 18 Year\, which is an annual release. \nThe 2025 Edition is the best ever Arran 18 as it was matured for 18 years in Oloroso sherry casks of toasted Spanish red oak and then finished for several months in first-fill Oloroso casks. Arran Amarone Cask Finish was first aged in bourbon barrels and then finished for 9-12 months in fresh Italian red wine casks\, namely Amarone della Valpolicella from Veneto. (This whisky alone will draw Dennis Sullivan in from the remote reaches of the Blue Ridge Mountains\, if the snow finally melts off.) Arran Quarter Cask – The Bothy is aged in Bourbon casks and then finished in a 125L quarter cask (made with former Bourbon cask slaves). Lagg Kilmory Edition\, a core offering\, was peated at 50-ppm and aged in Bourbon cask. Lagg Corriecravie Edition\, the second elixir to join Lagg’s core range\, was also peated at 50-ppm and finished for 6+ months in Oloroso sherry hogsheads casks (250L/66-USG) of toasted Spanish red oak. Our final dram\, Arran Sauternes Cask Finish\, the Arran range is unpeated\, was aged in Bourbon barrels and then finished for at least 6 months in Sauternes casks of toasted French oak formerly used for the sweet Bordeaux white dessert wine. \nDo bring a friend as ‘good whisky is made great when shared among friends.’

SUMMARY:Six Speyside Sixteeners
DESCRIPTION:The Speyside region of the Scottish Highlands is home to more distilleries than any other region on earth\, yet it produces a style of whisky that defies easy definition — from the delicate\, floral\, and fruit-forward expressions that made the region famous\, to the rich\, meaty\, and brooding drams that remind you this is a place of real depth and character. At our next event we’ll taste both ends of the spectrum: six drams of similar age and region\, but separated by everything else — the distillery\, the cask\, and the bottler. All are 16 years old — a particular sweet spot in Speyside whisky — old enough to have shed any youthful roughness\, developed enough to carry real complexity\, but not so old that the oak has begun to dominate at the expense of the distillery character beneath. The cask each whisky rested in has shaped it profoundly — adding layers of fruit\, spice\, sweetness\, and richness — while the distillery character remains very much alive. Same age\, same region\, six different stories to tell. The bottles come to us from some of the most respected independent bottlers in the business\, each with their own discerning eye for a great cask. \nThe Scotch\n2007 Benrinnes 16 Year Old Hunter Laing The First Editions #21174 Refill Hogshead\, 48%\n1997 Glen Grant 16 Year Old Cadenhead’s Small Batch Bourbon Hogshead\, 54.1%\n1997 Mortlach 16 Year Old Duncan Taylor “The Octave” No. 797681\, 55.3%\n2008 Glentauchers 16 Year Old Single Cask (Royal Mile Whiskies) #900255 Sherry Butt\, 46%\n2007 Glenburgie 16 Year Old Hunter Laing The First Editions #21006 Refill Sherry Butt\, 53.1%\n2005 Glenrothes 16 Year Old Douglas Laing Old Particular (K&L) #14897 Sherry Butt\, 57.2%

SUMMARY:Dealer's Call
DESCRIPTION:“Six Bottles That Called Out To Me” When a reputable Scottish bottler puts its name on a single cask that’s fewer than 12-years-old\, the bottler is promising\nprospective buyers that the bottle is fully mature and will be a most pleasant surprise. Let’s start with Speyburn 10 Year\, an InverHouse (Old Pulteney\, anCnoc\, Balblair\, Balmenach\, and Speyburn) elixir that’s seldom seen around\nhere. We also don’t see much Benrinnes in the GA. So\, let’s have a go of a fine\n20 Year from Andrew Symington’s Signatory. Talking about scarce in the GA\, I’ve never seen a Holyrood single malt here. Pronounced holly-rud\, Ambir is a\nyoung malt that Raj’s brought back from this new Edinburgh distillery. Moving\nover to the far west\, Ben Nevis Golden Cask is a 2012 vintage indie bottling\nfrom House of MacDuff. It’s a single cask at 61.1% ABV cask strength. Glen\nScotia Exclusive Cask is a 2019 vintage single cask at 57% ABV. It was matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel before being finished in a first-fill ruby port HH: yummy! For a tasty finish\, 2008 vintage Caol Ila at source (59.5% ABV cask strength) from a single cask\, in this case\, a fresh Bourbon barrel. SUMMARY:The Executive Visit Whisky Tour
DESCRIPTION:HiFrom Andy Smith “President\, Scotch Club” \nJoin MASC for a FASTASTIC and ELITE lineup of whiskies as we tour Scotland within our Glencairns.  This event will include special guests\, the two most knowledgeable Scotchophiles in all a of Kansas\, and perhaps the ONLY Scotchophiles in all of Kansas.  Attending to inspect the quality of Atlanta’s scotch one sip at a time is Andy Smith\, the ever-transient co-founder of Scotch Club and the mysterious Chinese professor\, Terry Zhang\, bringer of the Linkwood 37yr.  Do NOT miss this one (look at the list!) \nFrom Jack Smith (Fearless Leader) \n“A Tour of Scotland from your chair” – Andy Smith (founder\, Scotch Clubs of America & LASC) will be joining us for this special HIGHER-END TASTING. He and Terry Zhang\, K.C. Scotch Club\, are bringing 2 special expressions: Highland Park Odin\, from the Valhalla range\, and Linkwood 37-year-old (1978). \nHailing from the Scottish mainland’s 4 Whisky Regions\, let’s enjoys drams from InchDairnie (Lowlands)\, Glen Ord (Highlands)\, Linkwood (Speyside)\, and Springbank (Campbeltown) to which we will add Highland Park (Island) and Ardbeg (Islay). \nGlen Ord 18 Year is awesome as it was distilled almost 3 decades ago and matured in a modest bourbon cask. \nInchDairnie RyeLaw is a very interesting Scottish whisky: a single grain whisky (a technique term denoting a whisky based on 1 or more cereal grains\, in addition to the required malted barley\, from a single distillery: in this case\, malted rye (53%) and malted barley (47%) grains and InchDairnie). \nLinkwood 1978 vintage\, 37 Years Old\, is a bottling from Diageo. It was matured in a combination of refill American oak hogsheads and European oak butts. It’s highly rated (90.4%) and currently selling for £800-£999. Murray McDavid bottled our 1991 vintage Springbank in 2000 and apparently released it to market in a couple of tranches\, the first release being mid-2000 and the second in 2016… surely\, they misplaced the pallet. In comparing our 1991 to the current vintages\, the reviewers have remarked that the 1991 vintage is clearer in appearance and peatier at the finish. \nHighland Park Odin is the fourth release from its Valhalla series. Odin was bottled at a robust CS 55.8% ABV (released in 2015). This makes it the highest proof and most powerful release of all four gods in the Valhalla collection\, contrasting with Thor 52.1% (2012)\, Loki 48.7% ABV (2013)\, and Freya 51.2% ABV (2014). Unlike the HP standard age-statement releases\, Odin underwent a specific double-cask maturation to achieve its deep oak profile: It was aged for 12 years in refill European oak hogsheads. It was then transferred into first-fill Spanish oak Sherry casks for 4 more years to finish its 16-year maturation\, maximizing spice and rich fruit extractions. \nNow for a fine final dram\, our Ardbeg Kelpie is a Committee Release at batch strength of 51.7% ABV. This 2017 release is noted for being the first Ardbeg dram matured in virgin Black Sea oak casks sourced from Russia’s Adyghe Republic. These rare casks were married with traditional ex-bourbon barrel-matured Ardbeg to create a profile that leans heavily into oily\, salty\, and savory maritime notes. Bring a friend as “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” If you can’t join us for our September tour of Scotland\, the 6/5/26 armchair tour will have to do. (Flight making is a kick… not just slapped together. There are potential synergies to be realized out there!) \nWHISKY MENU – 5 Single Malts/1 Single Grain (from InchDairnie’s copper Lomond pot stills) \n1. SUMMARY:Bruce's Birthday Bunnahabhain Bash
DESCRIPTION:“Bruce’s Birthday Bunnahabhain Bash”\nTucked away on the remote northeastern coast of Islay\, accessible only by a single-track road winding along the Sound of Islay\, Bunnahabhain—pronounced “Boo-na-ha-venn” and meaning “mouth of the river” in Gaelic has been quietly producing whisky since 1881\, when the Islay Distillery Company carved a distillery\, a pier\, and an entire workers’ village out of previously uninhabited coastline. For much of its history it supplied the lion’s share of its spirit to the Famous Grouse and Black Bottle blends\, meaning precious little made it into bottle under its own name — which is precisely what makes this event so special. Independent bottlers have long known what the blending houses knew: Bunnahabhain’s unpeated\, maritime character—rich with hazelnuts\, dried fruit\, sherry-soaked oak\, and saline coastal air—is something extraordinary when given time and the right cask. \nSo\, join us on June 6th when we will taste 2 of the distillery’s own expressions alongside a carefully curated selection of independent bottlings. So settle in\, open your senses\, and prepare to discover why those in the know have been quietly celebrating this coastal gem for decades. \n\nThe Scotch\nBunnahabhain 1990 26yr Alexander Murray & Co.\, 43%\nBunnahabhain 2008 9yr Old Duncan Taylor “The Octave” No. 3813757\, 52.4%\nBunnahabhain 12yr\, 46.3%\nBunnahabhain 12yr Cask Strength 2025 Edition\, 56.4%\nBunnahabhain 2007 13yr Signatory Vintage Cask No. 590 1st Fill Sherry Butt\, 57.7%\nBunnahabhain 1991 25yr Douglas Laing Old Particular (K&L) #12130 Refill Sherry Hogshead\, 49.5% \nPlease be sure to arrive early as parking on Saturday night can be difficult.

SUMMARY:Whiskies of the Year 2025
DESCRIPTION:Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 Whiskies of the Year 2025\nFrom the stock of our own Dr. Raj\, we are going to taste six award-winning whiskies: five single malts and one blended malt. \nWe begin with the Lochlea Fallow Edition (Third Crop) from the farm where Robert Burns grew up; it was ranked as the #20 Whisky of 2025 by Whisky Advocate. Next in our preferred tasting order is the Oban 15-Year\, which placed #2. This cask-strength expression (55.3% ABV) results from the marriage of Oloroso and Palo Cortado sherry casks. \nWe then move to GlenDronach Ode to the Embers\, which came in at #12. It was matured in a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks made of toasted Spanish red oak. The Compass Box 25th Anniversary of Flaming Heart was awarded the #5 spot; it is a marriage of Talisker and Benrinnes single malts with Williamson blended malt (a “teaspooned” Laphroaig). \nRounding out the list\, Port Charlotte 18-Year (2025 Release) was recognized as the #10 finisher. It features Scottish barley malted at 40 ppm and matured in 1st-fill bourbon (53%)\, 2nd-fill sherry (31%)\, and a combination of sherry and virgin French oak (16%). Finally\, Torabhaig Sound of Sleat was named #9—a peated dram aged in first-fill bourbon (75%)\, virgin American oak (20%)\, and refill bourbon (5%). \nBring a friend\, as “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” \n\nWHISKY MENU\n5 Single Malts | 1 Blended Malt (WOTY: Whisky of the Year) \n\n\nLOCHLEA Single Malt | ‘Fallow Edition’ (Third Crop) | NAS | 46% ABV | Lowlands (Central) SRP $75 | #20 2025 WOTY (93 Points) \n\n\nOBAN Single Malt | ‘Oloroso & Palo Cortado Cask Finished’ | 15-Year | CS 55.3% ABV | Highland SRP $150 | #2 2025 WOTY (95 Points) \n\n\nGLENDRONACH Single Malt | ‘Ode to The Embers – Sherry & Smoke’ (Master’s Anthology) | NAS | 48.4% ABV | Highland SRP $91 | #12 2025 WOTY (94 Points) \n\n\nCOMPASS BOX Blended Malt | ‘Flaming Heart’ (25th Anniversary Edition) | NAS | 48.9% ABV | Scotland SRP $165 | #5 2025 WOTY (95 Points) \n\n\nPORT CHARLOTTE Single Malt | 18-Year (2025 Release) | 51.5% ABV | NCF | OB: Bruichladdich | Islay SRP $200 | #10 2025 WOTY (94 Points) \n\n\nTORABHAIG Single Malt | ‘Sound of Sleat’ (Legacy Series – 4th Release) | NAS | 46% ABV | Island (Skye) SRP $60 | #9 2025 WOTY (94 Points)

SUMMARY:Port Casks & Scotch Whisky - A Long History
DESCRIPTION:Long before “cask finishing” had a name\, Scotland and Portugal were already shaping each other’s destinies. The Methuen Treaty of 1703 cemented a preferential trading relationship between Britain and Portugal\, and as wars with France cut off access to French wines\, port rose to prominence among the British upper classes — leaving a steady stream of empty port pipes that Scottish distillers were well positioned to use. For generations\, it was simply practical. That changed in 1987\, when Glenmorangie introduced one of the first deliberately port-finished whiskies\, transforming an old habit into a new art form. Join us on April 25th as we taste that legacy — and celebrate the centuries-old alliance between the distilleries of Scotland and the vineyards of Portugal’s Douro Valley — one dram at a time. \nThe Scotch\nGlenmorangie 12yr Port Wood Finish (2000’s bottling)\nGlendronach 10yr Port Wood\nGlenallachie 12yr Old Port Wood Finish (Impex Beverages bottling)\nBenRiach 2006  15yr Old Hart Brothers Single Cask (K&L) First Port Pipe\nLaphroaig 2014 Brodir Port Wood Finish Batch 001 (Travel Retail)\nKilchoman 2012 8yr Single Cask 2500/12 (SCWC) Ruby Port Quarter Cask \n  \nPlease order your dinner directly with Chapter One when you arrive. \n

SUMMARY:Benromach and Friends
DESCRIPTION:As we didn’t feature any Benromach expressions in 2025 (which is rather embarrassing\, as it is a great single malt)\, we are going to make up for it tonight with three Benromach offerings. \nLet’s begin our tasting with Teaninich 10-Year\, one of my favorites. It comes from a large distillery in the northern Highlands\, situated between Glen Ord and Glenmorangie. \nOur second pour brings us to Benromach with the Optic Barley from its Origins series. \nThe third whisky is Cragganmore 1993 Vintage from MMCD (Murray McDavid)\, a top independent bottler. \nFor the fourth offering\, we return to Benromach with their excellent 10-Year\, this time bottled at 57% ABV (cask strength) rather than the standard 43%. \nOur fifth dram is Kilchoman Sanaig\, a sherry-led\, peated expression from Islay. \nFinally\, we conclude with Benromach once more—this time from the Peat Smoke series. Batch 7\, distilled in 2006\, features malted barley peated to 62 ppm. \nI’m excited about this flight and confident you will be pleasantly surprised.Do bring a friend—good whisky is made great when shared among friends. \n\nWHISKY MENU\n1. SUMMARY:Forever 21+ Whisky Old Enough to Drink Itself
DESCRIPTION:“At Long Last: Whisky and Consumer Age Congruency” I’m not permitted to offer a whisky to a person younger than 21\, so it wouldn’t be proper to offer people over 21 whisky that’s not. Let’s begin with the legendary Campbeltown Loch 25-year-old Blended Scotch. It is reported to be 70% malt whiskies (Ardbeg\, Balvenie\, Glenfarclas\, Glenlivet\, Lochside and Lochside from 1962 to 1972) and 30% grain whiskies (Dumbarton 1962 and Invergordon 1977)\, with the youngest component whisky being at least 25 years old. My favorite Glengoyne is its 21-year-old. Next\, from the home of Teacher’s Highland Cream Blended Scotch (which is circa $25 and 45% malt whiskies)\, Ardmore 25-Year. From Glend Ord Distillery aka The Gorilla of the North (for is 11.9-Mlpa capacity)\, a cask strength 28-year-old. Then it’s on to a Glenburgie 22-year-old at cask strength. Now for a big finish: Bowmore 21-year-old produced in 2004\, matured in fresh Oloroso sherry casks\, and bottled at its cask strength of 56.3% ABV. Join our dramming community\, which eschews EDI while advocating consumer and whisky age congruency. SUMMARY:4 Single Malts & DR Cigar
DESCRIPTION:TGIS is optimized with Saturday afternoon fine cigar & ABC single malts! \nI enjoy the Padron cigars and will select one that pairs well with the single malts that comprise our whisky flight. \nAultmore 12-Year is an excellent Speysider owned by John Dewar & Sons (Bacardi)\, which owns 5 malt distilleries in Scotland. Aultmore’s nickname is “Old foggy moss”\, I’ll tell you the story about it. \nI bought a $1\,000 worth of single malts from an estate that included an old bottle of BenRiach 12-Year\, bourbon cask classic\, at 46%. BenRiach is the prototypical Speyside single malt. If you told central casting to send you good Speyside single malt\, they would bring you a bottle of BenRiach. \nCaol Ila is\, by a wide margin\, the largest distillery on Islay and it may make the best-balanced single malt whisky on Islay. Let’s try the excellent Caol Ila 12-Year. \nIf you were wondering\, there are my ABCs: Aultmore\, BenRiach\, and Caol Ila. \nBut wait as there’s more: Ian Macleod Distillers has the Regional Malts of Scotland collection. Macleod’s Islay Regional Malt is a tasty young Ardbeg. \nSo do join us between 3 and 8pm for a fun event — because “good whisky is made great when shared among friends.” \n\nWHISKY MENUAn Ultra-Premium Padron Cigar & 4 Top-Shelf Single Malt Whiskies @ $30 \n\n\nAULTMORE Single Malt / 12-Year / 46% ABV / NCF / OBDist: Aultmore DistilleryDist Owner: John Dewar & Sons Ltd. SUMMARY:Let’s Leap Early
DESCRIPTION:“Let’s Leap Early; Why Wait Until 2028?” Although it would be appropriate to name a whisky after my friend Charlie Maclean\, Scotland’s top whisky writer and whisky expert\, Maclean’s Nose is named after a prominent landmark near the Ardnamurchan Distillery. This blended scotch is the antithesis of Johnnie Walker Black: it is 70% malt whiskies (Ardnamurchan and Glen Scotia) and 30% grain whiskies. Let’s try a Glen Elgin 17-year-old single cask from Signatory. Next\, from the new Nc’Nean distillery in the highlands\, we will give its Organic expression a go. Then we’re onto 2 new releases: Highland Park Heather (Cask Strength range)\, and Springbank 5 Year-Old\, from its Cask Strength range. Ardbeg Smoke trails is its newest GTR (Global Travel Retail aka Duty-Free Shops) exclusive offering\, it’s a 46% ABV’er from a combo of Bourbon HH and Manzanilla Sherry casks… and it’s yummy! Come and see. \nBring a friend and join our dram family. \nWHISKY MENU \n1. SUMMARY:A TASTE OF THE D.R. & SCOTLAND
DESCRIPTION:I’ve Got Thursday On My Mind! You might ask: “What happens when you pair a fine Dominican cigar with the best single malts in the world? One might respond: “Come and see.” La Galera JADE toro is a premium\, medium-bodied Dominican cigar known for its rare African Cameroon wrapper\, offering flavors of cedar\, spice\, brown sugar\, and coffee with a creamy\, peppery finish\, crafted by Jochy Blanco at Tabacalera Palma (Tamboril\, Dominican Republic) with a Criollo binder and Piloto Cubano/Criollo 98 fillers\, providing a rich\, smooth experience. Under Jose “Jochy” Blanco (former SVP of Joya de Nicaragua S.A.)\, the Blanco family owns 5 farms in the Dominican Republic’s Cibao valley. With 600-acres under tobacco cultivation\, Tabacalera Palma has a sufficient supply of grade A tobacco to meet its production needs. While it has historically imported wrapper tobacco from Cameroon\, Mexico\, Nicaraguan\, Sumatra\, and Connecticut\, that’s about to change with the introduction of domestic wrapper grown on the Palma Estate. SUMMARY:El Septimo and Single Malt
DESCRIPTION:TGIF is optimized with an after work fine cigar & single malt! El Septimo’s SE Sales\nManager\, Kevin Petosa\, will tells us about the ultra-premium El Septimo Cigar line\nwhich has taken the industry by storm. I’ve selected 4 fine single malts which will\npair up nicely with our El Septimo cigar. Speyburn 10-Year is a Speysider owned by\nInver House Distillers\, which owns 5 malt distilleries in Scotland. I’m over the moon\nabout Craigellachie 13-Year. The Craigellachie distillery\, one of Bacardi’s 4 Scottish\nmalt distilleries\, is one of my favorites. One of the most popular single malts in our\nfair city is Talisker. The Talisker Distillery is on the Isle of Skye\, off the western coast\nof Scotland. We’ll taste Talisker Storm\, a full flavor\, moderately peated dram.\nTalisker was the favorite whisky of Robert Louis Steveson. Mr Stevenson famously\npraised Talisker in his 1880 poem\, “The Scotsman’s Return from Abroad\,” where he\ncrowned it the “king o’ drinks”. He later clarified his ranking\, stating\, “I have since\ntried Glenlivet and Islay\, but Talisker remains my favorite”. Smokehead is a heavily\npeated Island single malt. The producer (Ian MacLeod Distillers) has not disclosed\nthe distillery or the island of origin. The bloggers say that it is from Islay and the\nmajority believe it’s from the Lagavulin Distillery. Smokehead is supposedly 40ppm\nat the malted barley level whereas Talisker’s malted barley begins life at 18-25ppm.\nDo so join us between 3 and 8pm for a fun event. Remember\, “good whisky is made\ngreat when shared among friends.” \nWHISKY MENU ! \n An Ultra-Premium El Septimo Cigar & 4 Top-Shelf Single Malt Whiskies @ $30 !\n1. SUMMARY:Right Launching 2026
DESCRIPTION:“Right Launching 2026” I selected 3 bottles that I brought back from Scotland to kick off our 2026 tasting year. We’ll start with a dram born on the eastern bank of River Findhorn: Benromach Traditional is a tasty apéritif style single malt\, the perfect first whisky. Moving over to the Flow on the Isle of Orkney\, Scapa Glansa is an interest ‘tween’ dram aged in Bourbon casks and then finished in smaller cask of an Islay origin. Back across the Pentland Firth to Thurso on the northern coast of Scotland\, let’s try Wolfburn Morven\, a lightly peated single malt. Moving to the outskirtsof Glasgow\, you will enjoy the Auchentoshan Silver Oak\, a 1990 vintage 23 Year at 50.7% ABV batch strength. Raj and I really enjoyed it! You ask: But what’s going on in Campbeltown? Springbank offers an ‘Infinity Barrel’ on a fill-your-own-bottle basis. I promptly filled our 58.91% ABV bottle. Now for a big finish: the Lagavulin 12-Year Special Release of 2024 aka Fireside Tales. It’s at 57.4% ABV. \nCome and see. Join our dramming family. \nWHISKY MENU \n1. DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year!  The temperatures have “dropped” to a brisk 80F and the sun is shining bright enough to require ample sunscreen.  Yes it’s December in San Diego\, bringing us holiday traditions like holiday parades\, December Nights\, Candy Cane Lanes\, the Parade of Lights\, but most importantly\, the annual SDSC Holiday Party!  We’ve pulled some fun and festive Islay whisky (and a Highland Park) from the vaults to dram\, and in the festive holiday spirit\, to share.  A bottle share\, to be exact.  In addition to the usual potluck\, we will also have a bottle share including some scotch club bottles from events from past events.  Please feel free to bring up to 1 (ONE!) of your own bottles to share\, can be open or sealed.  We will also be doing the usual holiday white elephant sample exchange (details below). \n  \nWhite Elephant Sample Exchange: This is similar to a traditional white elephant gift exchange.  Please bring a LABELED! 1 or 2oz Boston round (mini) scotch bottle.  It can be from anything in your collection\, we usually have some very good samples\, so bring something special. \nRules: all samples will be placed in bags or wrapped so no one knows what they are.  We will draw numbers and then go in order starting at 1.  The first person will pick a sample from the bunch\, open it\, and show it to everyone.  The next person\, 2\, will then choose to steal the first person’s sample or open a new one.  We continue this until all samples are open and everyone has 1 to take home.  2 important caveats: 1. Each sample may only have a total of 3 owners (2 steals)\, after that it is locked and can no longer be stolen.  2. At the very end the first person who went may trade samples with ANYONE\, including locked samples (house rule)\, making the #1 spot very desirable…  Please email if you have any questions or if you are unable to provide a sample (I can provide something good for you). \n  \nFood: Potluck\, please sign up here and add what you’re bringing (if the link doesn’t work for you\, search on https://www.PerfectPotluck.com/ for last name “Baer” and password is “1”): \nhttps://www.perfectpotluck.com/meals.php?t=BAVP8738 \nThe scotch lineup will consist of the following (and whatever you bring to share): \nThe Whisky \n\nBruichladdich Friends of Bruichladdich 13yr Amarone and Bourbon 1st fill\nHighland Park Little Lebowski Urban Achievers 12.5yr sherry seasoned Firkin cask\nKilchoman Mahir Bay ACE Spirits collaborative vatting (95% bourbon 5% sherry)\nLagavulin Offerman Edition Charred Oak 11yr (2023)\nKilchoman PX (The New.WhiskeyOrder/PITCH/Travis Williams/AWC pick)\nPort Charlotte PC10 Second Limited Edition\nGrander Little Lebowski Urban Achievers Islay cask finish Panama Rum

SUMMARY:Scotch and Dominican Cigars - Dec 19th
DESCRIPTION:I’ve Got Friday On My Mind! \nYou might ask: “What happens when you pair a best-selling Dominican cigar with the best single malts in the world? One might respond: “Come and see.” The La Galera 1936 toro is a box-pressed gem from Tabacalera Palma. Under Jose “Jochy” Blanco (former SVP of Joya de Nicaragua S.A.)\, the Blanco family owns 5 farms in the Dominican Republic’s Cibao valley. With 600-acres under tobacco cultivation\, Tabacalera Palma has a sufficient supply of grade A tobacco to meet its production requirements. While it has historically imported wrapper tobacco from Cameroon\, Mexico\, Nicaraguan\, Sumatra\, and the US\, that’s about to change with the introduction of some domestic wrapper grown on the Palma Estate. \nLet’s try Glenfarclas 17-Year-Old\, which is a terrific Speyside whisky. Owned by John (dad) and George (son) Grant\, Glenfarclas is one of the most revered distilleries in Scotland. It is a prominent sherry cask aged single malt producer. Glenfarclas Family Reserve bottles go back into the 1950s and gather selling prices of up to a quarter million dollars. We will follow on with the tasty Glen Scotia Double Cask and the boldly delicious top-selling Amrut Fusion. So\, do join us for a lovely afternoon to early evening Cigar and Spirits Pairing with food\, friends\, and fun. \nThere’s plenty of parking in the front and rear.
